Good morning

The weather here is cooler but nice. Gonna be in the 70's today.
Going to be cleaning the house up today for my daughter and her fiancee that live in Ohio will be visiting this weekend. They will be here for a short visit. He's in the Air Force and has to be back on Monday. I went there and visited in APril and had a very short visit due to having to be back for work. It's nice to see them if only for a short visit.

Picked out my Bingo words yesterday. I hope that more can participate. It's fun and you have the chance of a weekly prize also.

Here's a picture of a local diner that has been opened for a few years now. Locally has been getting more and more well known. They had a visitor yesterday that had been staying at Nemacolin Woodlands http://www.nemacolin.com a posh place for visitors in the area. Robin Williams and Regis Philban are just two of the famous that have stayed there. Just a few things in the area of where I live.

Well, gonna get busy with cleaning, they'll be here before I know it. Have a great day all!

Good morning all...how's everyone doing? Beautiful day on tap here in SW PA., warm and wonderful sunshine.

Ed and I did yard work after he came home from work yesterday. Got all the grass cut and weeds wacked, lol.

Woke up with a headache this morning...hopin it goes away soon.

Next weekend, in my area we have what is called Wagon train days.
http://www.nationalpikefestival.org/ It covers three states from Maryland-PA- and Ohio with miles of yard sales and festivities. It's all along the historical Rt. 40. Locally, the drive-in is having open areas for selling like a flea market. Spaces are only $10 for the day and there is a lot of ex poser right off of the main highway. Thinking about taking some things and doing some downsizing and get rid of some things. I usually go and hunt for things but I have to much already....may as well make a few bucks with it.

Oh boy, What a surprise late at night!

I went this past weekend to Ohio to visit my daughter and her boyfriend. He's in the Air Force so they don't get time for visits so I went to them. It was for two days and then we came back home. I enjoyed seeing them both. Last night a got a call around 10pm and it was Toby (boyfriend) and I thought something was wrong...but there wasn't, actually it is good news. He preceded to tell me that he asked my daughter to marry him and she said yes!!!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for them. They live just off base in housing for the military and he's here for another year yet then he doesn't know where he is going. I hope they are able to stay in the states. He is a mechanic for the Air Force. I love them both so much and so happy for the late night surprise. I have to call her today and ask her the details. I'll post them as soon as I know what they are.

What I'm learning to do

I've always wanted to try and learn rag rug crafting and I found some directions on you tube that shows just how to do it. At first, I couldn't quite get it. Do some, take it apart..over and over again...it just wasn't right. So, I put it down for the night and walked away.

Morning comes and there it sits...should I try again? By George, yes I should. Back at it again and it is taking quite some time but I am getting the hang of it. This will be my first rug and I'm sure there will be a few blunders but that's how I will know what the mistakes are and how to fix them on the next one. I really like doing rag rugs and I hope to continue with greater ease.
Here is a pix of what I have done so far...doesn't look like much done but it takes time.

It was so nice to see my dad him ole self again tonight. I walk in the room and he says "whatcha got for me?" He snacks in the evening while watching ESPN so I have been bringing him healthy snacks to munch on, his diet allows. So he said " don't want to be here for the weekend..he wants to come home for sure. He's finally up and about going into the bathroom himself and the dizziness is just about all gone. That pneumonia is the devil on people....geesh. They had to change his meds because they weren't co-operating as he says, lol.

Here is a pic of my dad with his working clothes on...he's always doing something in or outside....he's 72 years young. Worked hard all his life and that's what he attributes his age to. Love him to pieces.
Sorry it's so big.

Well my friends, gonna hit the hay sack..getting up early...Ed's on day shift this weekend starting tomorrow....alarm at 3:30...ugh, lol.

Hey all.....happy Friday.

I did a swap over at Crow's Creek Primitives Gathering Forum and received my swap yesterday. If you are not a member...stop on over and check it out. Lots of nice women over there with great talent.

So here is my swap items: the doll, which I love and smells wonderful. two pumpkins, harvest potpourri, coffee and a turkey pin....I just love all of it.

Got any good plans for the weekend? I'm just gonna stick around the house and do house things and since my daughter has moved, I'm taking over her bedroom for my crafts...yea...more room...now I should be able to organize a bit.

I understand when someone deletes another; many reasons could this be and my blog isn't a selling blog or in competition with anyone. I enjoy crafts and seeing all the talent that everyone has and I DO NOT sell anything that I make. There's no way my sewing/crafting that I do would be sale-able . I just do a bit for swaps. So when I am deleted, I understand that someone always has to go and therefore it be me. But that's ok..I still love to post about my family and some recipes or whatever may cross my way and I will continue to follow those who are so talented; for no other reason but enjoying the sites of other bloggers.

Spiced Homemade Apple Cider Recipe
Ingredients
1 tsp ground allspice
1 apple
Cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)
2 tsp whole cloves
1/8 tsp fresh ground nutmeg
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 tsp ground cinnamon
4 quarts apple cider (ideally fresh)
Directions

To start, carefully stick the cloves into the apple. Then mix the allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove studded apple and apple cider in a pan. Place it on low heat and bring to a simmer. In about 10 minutes, the apple cider will get imbibe the flavors of the spices. Take the pan off the heat and toss away the apple. You could either strain or spoon the spiced cider into mugs and garnish each mug with a cinnamon stick and slice of orange. You will make around a gallon, which comfortably serves 8.

I'm making a pot of beef vegetable soup. For lunch we had bacon, pepper jack cheese, and tomato (from the garden) sandwiches on ciabatta bread rolls. YUMMY!
Here is the tomatoes doing well.... the grape tomatoes are coming along....my cabbage....eh....not to good.......and my sunflower is dying off...don't know what happened. And last is a pic of a wild flower that grows a plenty along the road here and I am wondering if anyone knows what it is....it has the periwinkle color to it.

That's it for today! Oh and our local county fair begins tonight. I think we are going to go on Saturday for the truck pulls. Saturday is my daughters birthday also..I'm taking her to lunch at Red Lobster and shopping. She'll be 20 years old. My how time flies.

This is my new dollie that I have been working on. I really am a amateur with sewing and I guess I may get better as I practice more with others.

Made cabbage rolls yesterday for dinner. Haven't had those in a while. I think they taste better the next day anyway. Waiting for the tomatoes in the garden to ripen. Want to get started on the canning of those and to make a good ole mater sandwich. My dad also planted kohlrabi, lettuce, parsley, banana peppers, green peppers, grape tomatoes and I added cabbage, zucchini. The kohlrabi and lettuce are gone along with his green onions. They are the first things to grow.

Watched Deadliest Catch last night to say farewell to Captain Phil. So sad to watch. He was young...it makes you put things in perspective....life is short whether it be minutes to years.One thing that upsets me is how many people live for "things" and how much they can obtain. I always said "you can't take it with you" but some still think that is what life's all about...what you can get. The psalm... is one I read to understand no matter what you have on earth..you must prepare for heaven.....

Haven't posted much of late. I must take some pics and show what I have been trying to accomplish. Mind you I am not a great sew-er and I have been trying to make my own doll. I have to laugh at myself because when I try to make the other arm or leg it is either a bit bigger or a tad smaller than the other. I keep attempting and I will get it eventually. So, as I try to attempt another limb today...I will be posting pics sooner or later.

When I first saw the title "Embracing Your Second Calling", I wondered what could possibly in this book that could make the second half of my life go from feeling empty to a fullness of accomplishment. Having started many projects of hope to accomplish something only to have learned a lesson in which it was the wrong road to of taken. As time continues to pass along, I find that it is not to late to begin again with another direction of knowing you are never to old to try.

God always has a plan for our life.He loves us no matter what and wants us to help us to a better place where we can totally trust in him.As he closes on door and opens another into another direction, we can learn to trust. Whether it is direction, a new career, or just starting over. Trust in him! You can find the strength and know that you are never to old for great things.

Came across a few "gems" in a few out of the way places. First is this bench that needs a little TLC, but other than that it will be good for sitting in the back yard. Ed bought this...was $75, got it for $40.

The next gem that I found is this trunk. I wish it could speak and tell me all of it's travels. Love the color. Was $20...got it for $15.....the guy had a hang over, lol.
