I was at Joanns last week and I was looking at these. I had asked the worker if she knew anything about them, if they were ok for a starter machine. Wellllll.....needless to say my answer was I don't know. So, I bought it anyway. It was on sale for $49.99 so I bought it. I have had it sitting in the box trying to decide on using it or just returning it. WHY? I read some reviews on line stating that most do not like it, that it has issues. I did ask about the return policy, only if there is a defect. Well today I finally opened it up for myself. Read the instructions and was good to go. I also like that it has several stitch types you can choose from. I can remember back in 7th grade when I had sewing class and we had to make a pillow for our project, so I can remember a bit about it. The machine was already threaded and the bobbin was in place. Good! They had a sample stitching under the foot to show that it does work. Took that out and decided to give it a try. I found a free pattern for a bunny and cut out the pattern. And here we go!!! I started sewing and to my amazement, I like it! Now mind you it is not for heavy material and according to Martha ( on the box, she likes it for crafting) it will do me just fine to play around with and get the hang of sewing again. This machine also has a slow speed which is very good for me. Turning those corners are tricky. So, as I work on the bunny today, which I hope it doesn't turn out to look to much like a first time attempt, I will post a pic later or tomorrow....but maybe I can stretch it until watcha working on Wednesday...we'll see how it goes.
Other than that, since I had found out I was Diabetic in January, I have lost 11 pounds in 1 month both because of watching what I eat plus the fact that I have started the program for the gastric bypass for in the fall. It is quite scary to think about but I have to do it. Everything just hurts and they say it's because of the weight. So, I opted to see what can be done. So, since I had my first weigh-in, that is what I have lost and I go back in April to see how I'm doing. I do feel better just by loosing the 11 pounds so it gives me incentive to keep going. Besides, summer is coming and I want to be able to do things. Last summer I couldn't because I found out about having COPD and I just couldn't do to much because of my breathing. Things are much better now and I look forward to the sunny days, blue skies and being able to walk with much better ease. Besides that the flea markets and yard sales will begin soon. The only thing is that in this area there isn't to much of that. You have to go out of your way to find anything. It is a poor county for sure. That, and the things you do find, they want an arm and a leg if you have it, lol.
You all have a wonderful day and I'll be posting soon.
