A few finds for this week

A few pics of what I found this week in thrifts. My wall with the mirror is a little bare. Possibly add something above? A shelf maybe? The America and Crow pics below were great finds, $2/piece, got lucky on those. The star boxes and the apple scented whatchamacallit, reeds, that's it, lol, smells awesome. I have it by the door and when you walk in you can smell it. The small wooden bowls are really awesome. On the back it says from Anchorage Alaska....Any ideas of what to do with them? Please let me know. The big bowl has a shiny whatever on it and I would like it to be without the shine so maybe I can sand it? Would love suggestions on that too. Last but not least...my ROOSTER! I love roosters. I have a candle stick by it that I painted black and they sit in a wooden crate turned sideways. I love crates too. I don't see to many out there in the stores though. Above the rooster is the leg of my old sock monkey found at a flea market. It was a gift. Not quite sure what he is stuffed with...may be socks, lol!

It's 51 degrees here but cloudy. I get so tired of clouds. I like them in the summer with blue skies. Cold and some snow showers again this weekend.......blahhhhhh.

Watching the view and they have these dogs up for adoption......I'll take them all! They are soooo cute! They are dogs that people can no longer take care of because of the economics. It's so sad. And there's one on there that is 11 years old and her owner passed away just 2 days ago. God love them all.

ON a happier note....
Mine is sitting here beside me begging for some carrots and celery with dip. He likes the dip but not the veggie so I gave him 2 small pieces, licked the dip and just swallowed the veggie. I feed him Beneful so maybe he recognizes the veggies, lol.

Well, I have some assignments to get done and I want to start on a stitchin'. I've seen so many but I think I want to make a spring one.

So for now, gonna get going.

Everyone have a good day!

Here's my BunBun!!!!

I started working on this and winged the pattern last night and I finished it at 2am. I call him my bun bun, lol. I wanted a prim look to him. Now I think I am going to try a duck of some sort. This was fun to make! I love his tail.

Did some thrifting today and found some good things. Places were so busy though.

There was a snot that THOUGHT I was moving so that she could see the shirts that I was looking at first....NOT!!!! She actually had the gaul to sigh right in my face as if that was gonna move me....lol. Believe me, I bit my tongue...trying to be a good girl, lol. Sometimes I think people don't even need to be acknowledged of their presence.

Finally got the window replaced that blew out about a week ago. Let's hope that doesn't happen again. To costly. Should of just bought a new total window, oh well.

The winds p ickingup here and can't complain about the weather today. Was so sunny this morning. It puts you in a good mood. Clouds took over though. They say snow again on the way tonight. We'll see when we wake up.

Well that's all for now. Gonna get somethings done before the day is over.

You all have a good evening!

Until next time,

Busy, busy, busy!!!

Hello everyone. It's been such a busy week so far for me. Work, running my daughter to classes and picking her back up in the afternoon, having a dentist appointment and geeeeeshhh my assignments for on line college...I haven't had time to post anything. Stopped at the thrift store in passing but there hasn't been anything of late to buy. I do see more people shopping at the Salvation Army and Goodwill though. I just haven't hit it at the right time I guess.

I did manage to get a new laptop this past weekend. Went to Walmart and was looking around and Ed knows a bit about them so he saw this one, ACER, for $348 and it was worth getting so we both got one. He knows a bit about them and fixing them......he's good to have around, lol! Went to Staples today and was looking for a desk. They have this black decent size for my room that I kinda like. I is $129. Might end up on my list for the tax return.

Not much else going on, just running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Hope that doesn't offend anyone. I apologize if it does.

Wish all an enjoyable evening and until next time,

Received give-away and nasty weather

The wicked winds that came from Oklahoma manages to swirl around in my neck of the woods. Last nights wind speed was clocked at 87 mph. No wonder my living room window blew out. Yes, as the wind hit the area, my daughter and I heard this crash and we both ran to the living room. I have an old window in there about the size of 4x6 double sided. Low and be hold the dang thing blew outward. Thank goodness. So I was running around trying to find plastic and good ole duct tape to fix it for time being. This morning I went and asked my dad if he could possibly fix it and he said he would try. Later today he called back and said he couldn't, so he took it to the glass store. I's gonna take a week, special order, double pane and at the cost of $97. OOUUUCCCHHHH!!!!!!
I hope that never happens again.
Here's my pathetic boarding up of the window, lol.

It's so strange the weather around here anymore. Don't know what to expect next.

I entered a give-away for Valentine's day over at http://thepaintedaisyblog.blogspot.com/ where I am a member, and I won! This is what I received yesterday... Heaven....I'm in heaven.....
Thank you so much ladies!
If you haven't stopped over there yet....go and take a peek. It's a wonderful place with a wonderful bunch of ladies!!!
Well, gonna call it a night. It's been a long day.
Everyone have a good night and enjoy tomorrow....It's FRIDAY!!!!!

Smiles and Hugs...Kathy

My first mini stitchin and great grandfather

I don't do much stitchin' but I would like to try a sampler next. I did this little Simplify over the weekend and I found my great grandfathers picture from when he worked in the mine just below where I live. I put them together on my mantle.

I hope everyone's weekend was a good one. We had to get another washer so there was a lot of laundry to catch up on. This one is a lot bigger so I can fit more in it.

Tomorrow it is suppose to get up to 70 degrees here but with thundershowers. Totally unheard of in February in this area. Wasn't to bad today. Rainy though.

My daughter's enjoying her first week of classes for massage therapy. She said it was her turn for a massage today, ohhhhh just wait until she has to practice on someone...I'm first in line, lol.

Found a few more thrift finds this weekend. Not to much to be found. I do like the BATH sign with cast iron hooks for the bathroom. The teapot with the chicken on top, I don't think it goes on there but that's how I bought it. I think I will roll up washcloths and put them in the basket and the muffin pan , not sure just yet.

I might have time tomorrow to stop at goodwill when I got to pick up my daughter from school. It all depends.

I have a glass jar with a plastic lid and I want to fill it with something I just don't know what yet. Something prim though. Maybe some little ornies that I can put together like little shamrocks or something. I would use hearts but heck that day is almost here already and I don't think I would have them done in time.

Well I'm gonna go and see if I have some material for those shamrocks and maybe make a pattern for them.

You all have a good night and a super day tomorrow.

Until next time,

Thrifty Thursday

But done on a Wednesday. Yesterday I stopped at the thrift store after I took my daughter to school. There hasn't been to much there lately. The one fella that volunteers there says all the good stuff goes out the back door. I don't know it that happens in other places but these people that volunteer make sure they get picks and then put out what they don't want. To me it's like stealing because they only pay what they want to give for the items and even though the p rices are good there, it's still not right. These ladies consider themselves as church going abiders that help the less fortunate. Well then don't take what you want and donate what you want when you can put the item out on the floor and get more for it is what I say. It really p****s me off. Ok, sorry about that, It really makes me mad though.

Back to the thrifty finds...

The candlestick , $.50,I will paint black, and the recipe card stand $.50,I'm not sure what I will do with it. The pic frames, $.50/piece, I will leave be and the jar, $1.99, I will put a label and some homespun on the lid. The curtains that are on the door I got for $1.99.
I can't wait for it to get warm and all the sales to start up again. I know I will have a lot of stuff to get rid of. MUST SIMPLIFY!!!! I am a true pack rat and this home is not able to keep everything that I want so I will have a sale for sure. Lots of material and stuff that I pick up and then don't know what to do with.

I have a very small hallway that leads to my basement and I thought about building a small closet in there to store my mop, broom and sweeper instead of it just sitting out there in the way. I am going to attempt this myself, lol. A few two by fours and some nails and I should have a nice closet to put them in. Cross my fingers on that one...I can do it though.

Well, that's all for now...maybe some more later. Must get my assignments done.
Everyone have a good day!
